Botulinum toxin

At Institut Dermatològic Vilanova, botulinum toxin treatment is prescribed and administered by a dermatologist. Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines: frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. Properly applied, it softens the lines while keeping the face naturally expressive.

What does the treatment involve?

It is done in the clinic with micro-injections, takes a few minutes and requires no time off. The effect starts to show after a few days and is complete in about two weeks.

How long does it last?

Usually between 4 and 6 months, depending on the person and the area. With regular treatments, lines tend to become less marked.
